One of the key sucess factors that makes startups successful is that they have a team of motivated employees. In this blog post I'm going to share with you the 3 main factors that makes co-workers at start-ups engaged. 

The benefit of having motivated and engaged employees is not just that it boosts the organizations productivity, it also helps create a great corporate culture and a sense of purpose among the co-workers. 

According to author [Dan Pink](http://www.danpink.com/) there are 3 main factors that make employees highly engaged at work. Those factors are **Autonomy**, **Mastery** and **Purpose. **If you have not read his book [Drive](http://www.danpink.com/books/drive/) I highly recommend that you do. In the book he examines those three elements of true motivation and give you as a reader insights about how you can put those into practice. 

However, there are other factors than just employee engagement that explain why some startups succeed while others fail. According to [Bill Gross](http://www.ted.com/speakers/bill_gross), business incubator and founder of [Idealab](http://www.idealab.com/), there are five key factors that define success.** **By gathering data from hundreds of companies and organizations he have come to the conclusion that the single biggest reason why disruptive startups like [AirBnB](http://blog.airbnb.com/), [Instagram](http://blog.instagram.com/), [Uber](http://newsroom.uber.com/) and [YouTube](http://youtube-global.blogspot.se/) succeed is that their **timing** is right.
