6 Top Strategic Mistakes By Event Professionals

Written by anders@thinque.com.au | January 30, 2017

Creating a successful and memorable conference, strategy retreat and/or summit is a challenging task. To help you as an event professional design better events for your clients or organisations, I've shared the six most common mistakes and pitfalls below.

1. Planning only for the event (and not designing a path for the transformation, learning and thirst for knowledge which ensues).

2. Settling for boring themes.

3. Relying only on external thought leadership and allowing a discrepancy between external and internal content / talks.

4. Thinking that digital is only about the hashtag.

5. Neither emphasising with nor speaking the language of the key decision customer decision-makers.

6. Ignoring the rich media library that you have available to build your brand, while treating digital and analogue channels as silos.
